New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy
The New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in at least one language in addition to English by high school graduation. The State Seal of Biliteracy emphasizes the importance of multilingualism, which deepens intercultural communication and understanding across our personal and professional lives.
The NJDOE and Rutgers Graduate School of Education collaborate on promoting the Seal of Biliteracy. This website is designed to provide world language, ESL, and bilingual administrators and educators access to a network of colleagues and to leverage the expertise of other school districts to implement the State Seal of Biliteracy. Use the interactive map to locate participating districts and the assistance offered. There is also a search function, where one can enter the topics listed below and a list of districts offering assistance on that topic will populate.
